About the Beans
The name ‘sacred bean(s)’ comes from a direct translation of the Dutch saying ‘heilig boontje’, an individual who portrays themselves as morally superior, or holy, whilst masking immoral, or unholy, traits. The English saying that carries a similar essence is ‘goody two shoes’. It is a somewhat self-deprecating term that possibly has roots in imposter syndrome. People pleasers, concerned with ‘being good’ but not always feeling like they live up to that standard, may refer to themselves as a sacred bean.
This digital medium is where we will share our treasured findings. Academic writings may end up here; so may a recipe for a wholesome treat or philosophical musing. Although stemming from different places and flowering under different circumstances, our mutual belief of love, connection, and being, is what led us to create this space.

Our Beans
Nina de Jonge
art, dreamer, lover of the imaginary ꩜
Most of my time is spent fantasising and philosophising. Living through turbulent times of monocultures, rapid technological development, ecological and social crises, I often wonder whether we can (and should) all dream the same dreams.
On this platform I will share discoveries made while learning about ecocentrism; question popular beliefs; and explore nature-oriented pathways that help us re-connect to (our) nature. I love using art as a medium to breathe life into ideas and make them tangible.

꩜ natural living, foraging, lover of animals
With a passion and curiosity for Nature’s wisdom, I’m here to document, explore and share thoughts, ideas, projects, and appreciation in regaining the, for many of us, long-lost wisdom of caring for ourselves, our surroundings and a life in harmony with our fellow animals and plants.
Join me in my exploration of topics including the use of plants for health, love and beauty; mindful uses of Nature’s resources; fun and easy foraged food recipes, self-care techniques and hopefully lots more.
